Cheap Hotels near Berlin Zoo Berlin
Located in the Tiergarten neighbourhood in the centre of Berlin, the Berlin Zoo (Zoologischer Garten) is a complex which houses Berlin's Zoo and Aquarium. The zoo's 35 hectares house over 1,500 species of animals. Having been founded in 1844, the zoo is one of the oldest in Europe, while the Aquarium opened in 1913. The Aquarium has the largest variety of amphibians, reptiles, insects and spiders in the world, and one of its most famous inhabitants was Knut, the adorable Polar bear who was born in the zoo in 2006 and died in March 2011. The Zoologischer Garten rail and subway station is one of the busiest in Berlin. It is no coincidence that Irish band U2 named one of there songs 'Zoo Station', as Berlin underground  (U-Bahn) line U2 passes through this stop.
