This important Historic National Landmark was put on the register in 1963 and although it appears very natural, it has undergone extensive landscaping and includes several man-made ponds and lakes. There are extensive walking tracks, two ice-skating rinks, the Central Park Zoo, the Central Park Conservatory Garden, a wildlife sanctuary, a large area of natural woods and a reservoir with an encircling running track. There is a Botanical Garden and you can see outdoor plays at the Delacorte Theater which holds festivals in the summer.
