The Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is the quintessential bridge in Prague. Built on the river Vltava, it is the oldest bridge in Prague and the most visited by tourists. It has stood floods and wars since Charles IV started its construction in 1357, hence the name, Charles Bridge. Its pedestrian walk way is 516 metres long, filled with baroque statues and street artists and separates Mala Strana and Stare Mesto, two typical districts of Prague.
