Fifth Avenue is one of the best known streets in the borough of Manhattan and New York City and is one of the premier shopping streets worldwide. This exclusive street has also been known as the most expensive street in the world, depending on currency fluctuations of course. Fifth Avenue starts in Washington Square Park where the hip Greenwich Village transforms into a smart shopping area and runs up to the Upper East Side, through to Harlem on 142 street. It divides the city into East and West and numbers spanning out from the street increase on adjoining streets as they move away from Fifth Avenue.
