Merrion Square, Dublin

Merrion Square is located to the South of Dublin city centre, and is an outstanding example of Georgian period Dublin. An elegant district, lined by smart townhouses and a number of major Dublin tourist attractions, including Leinster Square (seat of the Irish parliament), the National Museum of Ireland’s Natural History building and the National Gallery of Ireland.
Merrion Square is also home to Archbishop Ryan Park, a small city centre park where you can find a statue of Dublin-born playwright and poet Oscar Wilde. Famous former residents of Merrion Square, Dublin include Nobel prize-winning Irish poet WB Yeats at number 82, and Irish political leader Daniel O’Connell, known as “The Liberator”, a 19th century civil rights campaigner and opponent of the Act of Union between Britain and Ireland, who lived at number 52.
