Cheap Hotels near National Gallery of Ireland Dublin The National Gallery of Ireland is located in central Dublin, with entrances located at Merrion Square, next to the historic Leinster House (the Irish parliament building), and on Clare Street. The National Gallery building was designed by architect Francis Fowke, and opened its doors to the public in 1864. Dublin’s National Gallery houses over 14,000 works of art, ranging from Irish art (in particular the Neoclassical period), and includes examples of Italian Baroque art, plus works by the Dutch Masters. Entrance to the National Gallery of Ireland is free, and is open to the public every day of the year, except the Christmas period (24-26 December), and Good Friday. Free guided tours are also available on Saturdays (starting at 2pm) and Sundays (1pm & 2pm).
