Olympic Stadium, Amsterdam
The Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam is located a few minutes from the city centre, very close to the gates of Vondelpark. It was built for the 1928 Olympic Games held in Amsterdam and is an outstanding arena. Although today used only for athletics tournaments, for many years it staged top flight football as home to Amsterdam’s leading football club, AFC Ajax. The Olympic Stadium avoided demolition in the 1980’s through being declared a national monument, and the area around it is a great location if you’re looking for central, budget accommodation in Amsterdam.
