The Retiro Park is Madrid's large green space in the centre of the city, the place where people go to get away from the day to day bustle and enjoy a bit of nature in the concrete jungle. The Retiro Park has plenty for the visitor to see and do. There is a large man made pond full of carp and rental row boats, a rose garden, a Crystal Palace, a statue garden, and more. Every Sunday from May to October you can see the Banda Sinfonica de Madrid play free concerts near the Calle d'Alcala. There are also buskers playing music, painting portraits, selling crafts and more. The most popular day to go and people watch is Sunday afternoons in summer.
