Great location, with really friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were big enough with TV, heating, plenty of lights, storage, pillows, spare blanket, tea and coffee, towels and good mirrors all the basics that you need. Down side for me was the bed was a little hard, I'd have preferred it a bit softer, but plenty enjoy a firm mattress. The rooms were pretty clean, not 100% but nothing that should upset anyone, I think it's a difficult location being on a busy street and river front. There was a peculiar smell sometimes drifting up the drains, probably again due to the location, simple remedy, shut the bathroom door! The other downside was the lack of lift, I was expecting this, but my husband did struggle as he has a knee injury. There is a lift, it would be good if they could get it working again :) The decor in the corridors was, erm, interesting!! It's a lovely building full of character and winding staircases, if it was redecorated, they should try and reflect that. All in all the hotel provides good value for money, a friendly and simple service, fantastic location I would definitely stay again, especially if they fixed the lift and had a slightly softer mattress! You get what you pay for, in this case, I think I got a little bit more:) The bar downstairs, great food, great staff, and on completion of the bridge outside, this location is going to be even more desirable.
