The Asmali Hotel in Istanbul was built on the historical peninsula Sultanahmet in 1946 as a private mansion with marvellous views of the Hagia Sofia, which is also beautifully light by night. The Sultanahmet area is where the mayor tourist attractions are located, such as the Blue Mosque or Hagia Sophia as well as the Grand Bazaar and the aromatic Spice market. From the outside the Asmali is an impressive building from a wealthy Turkish family which was only recently converted to a hotel (2007). Its small size, personalized service and of course, its famous Turkish hospitality make this accommodation a truly unique one. Breakfast is included in the price of the rooms. There are 8 rooms including a suite and a junior suite decorated in old Turkish style. The rooms are fairly large and very comfortable, with separated beds and sitting area. The rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV, hair dryer, minibar/refrigerator, direct dial telephone, private bathroom, wireless internet access, DVD player, private phone in the bathroom and a safety deposit box. There is a 24 hour room service and daily housekeeping provided by the hotel. Excellent for a relaxing holiday in a calm, central setting in Istanbul! more details >
