Visit some 50 of the 2,800 rooms of the palace including the Royal Pharmacy. The Cathedral next door sometimes has live organ performances of Bach for free on Sunday evenings. You are also close to the Plaza Cibeles where the beautiful post office building is located and Real Madrid fans (and sometimes the team itself) take a dip in the fountain after big wins. The Puerta de Alcalá and El Retiro Park are just up from this Plaza as is the Salamanca neighbourhood, known for its upmarket shopping on the C/Serrano.
